Maj. Gen. Clair A. Gill, U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence commanding general, welcomed attendees to a “significant occasion” honoring those who have impacted the Center’s training mission.

“General MacArthur once observed, in no other profession are penalties for employing untrained personal so appalling or so irrevocable as in the military,” Gill said. “He made the statement in 1933, and it’s as true today as it was then.”

To prevent this outcome, Soldiers are trained by “highly skilled, experienced professional instructors,” he explained.

The 2024 USAACE Instructors of the Year “go beyond the training manuals, beyond the classroom walls and cockpits and truly make an impact on maturing students into aviation warfighters,” Gill said.

The instructors “embody the heart and soul of military instruction, someone whose passion, dedication, preparation and unwavering commitment to student success are evident in everything we do,” he said.

They also serve as mentors and sources of inspiration; they put in long hours to learn new programs of instruction and develop curriculum, he added.

“They make students feel seen, heard and valued,” he said.

They support Chief of Staff of the Army priorities of Generating Warfighters and Strengthening the Profession.

“The training, education and developing aviation warfighter basics, and developing soldiers who deliver speed, flexibility, depth and lethality to a complex battlespace are primary drivers in transforming students to these priorities. We could not do it without you,” Gill said.

Their relentless pursuit of excellence sets them apart, Gill added.

The winners received a Certificate of Achievement. The citation reads:

“For excellence in training while serving as an instructor at the Aviation Center of Excellence. Your professionalism, dedication to duty, and technical expertise contributed to the success of your Unit and the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence. Your actions reflect great credit upon you, this Command, and the United States Army.”
