ORLANDO — The Marine Corps Recruiting Command hosted Fiscal Year 2025’s National Officer Selection Officer Training Symposium in Orlando from December 9 - 13, 2024. NOSOTS plays a critical role in maintaining the Marine Corps' high standards by ensuring that Officer Selection Officers are well-prepared to recruit candidates who uphold the Corps values of honor, courage, and commitment.
“To all our Officer Selection Officers, your unwavering commitment to attracting and inspiring the youth of America to join our Corps is testament to our strong Core Values,” said Maj. Gen. Bowers, Marine Corps Recruiting Command commanding general, at the symposium’s commencement. “Young men and women of character all over our country are becoming the future leaders of tomorrow because of you. Our Marines deserve the best leaders we can possibly give them, and you have met that challenge while continuing to reinforce and expand the trust of the American people in their Marine Corps.”
Throughout NOSOTS, participants engaged in various activities to enhance their recruitment skills and foster collaboration. Workshops and seminars provided in-depth training on innovative recruitment strategies and leadership development, equipping OSOs with valuable tools for success. Esteemed guest speakers, including the 31st Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. Charles Krulak (retired), shared valuable insights and lessons from their careers, inspiring the attendees.
The Marine Corps exceeded its FY24 officer recruitment goals, successfully recruiting 1,721 active-duty officers against a target of 1,695 and 85 reserve officers against a goal of 83. This achievement is part of the Corps’ broader success in meeting its recruitment and retention objectives for the year.
Due to this success, an award ceremony was held with guest of honor Gen. Eric Smith, the 39th Commandant of the Marine Corps, recognizing attendants. A total of 44 OSOs received individual awards, and six Officer Selection Teams were recognized.
“Recruiting is the lifeblood of our Corps and the foundation of our warfighting excellence,” said Smith after the ceremony. “Every Marine who wears this uniform today is a testament to the hard work and dedication of those who brought them into our ranks.”
The NOSOTS awards celebrated the exceptional achievements of OSOs and their teams. Among the prestigious honors were the Capt.
