Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center

It’s Mission Monday! Meet Brittney Brooks, lead financial management specialist for the Financial Management and Comptroller Directorate at the Air Force Services Center.
She and her team execute funding and manage memorandums of agreement for AFSVC morale, welfare and recreation programs that support Airmen, Guardians, their families and other customers on Department of the Air Force installations.

“I believe that financial management is not just about numbers and budgets, but also about supporting the people and programs that are critical to the department's mission,” Brooks said. “We are committed to building a strong relationship with our program managers as this contributes to the success of the overall MOA program. I'm proud to play a role in making a positive impact on the lives of Airmen, Guardians and their families.”

We asked the Kingman, Arizona, native to tell us more about herself and her work.

Briefly tell us why you joined civil service?
Working for the federal government was an intriguing job opportunity to use my skills in finance in support of those who serve our country. My career with the Air Force is just beginning with many more years ahead and I look forward to the growth and opportunities forthcoming.

What do you love about your job?
I love the supportive leadership and team I work with every day. They are willing to share knowledge and encourage me to grow.

When it comes to your job, what keeps you motivated?
My motivations are my family and success.

Describe a project you and your team worked on recently that gave you a great sense of accomplishment.
Our team has worked over the last year to convert our MOA reconciliation spreadsheets to a new format that will align better with the reconciliation transition into Power BI for a more streamlined process. The MOA team has converted 26 of the 80 MOAs to this new format already. We were able to verify 94,000 financial lines during this conversion process. Using new technologies available to us has been a top priority for our team to streamline some of our manual processes. This allows us to provide financial data quicker and more accurately to leadership. This is important so our AFSVC programs supporting the field have a clear representation of MOA financial status.

How does what you do support AFIMSC’s strategic priorities?
Our team of financial managers support AFSVC program managers and leadership by ensuring that financial resources are used efficiently and effectively. By providing timely and accurate financial data, MOA-funded programs can run more smoothly and to their full capacity. This support enables AFIMSC to increase lethality and readiness and strengthen Airmen, Guardians, and families.
