CAMP LEMONNIER, Djibouti (Jan. 22, 2025) - Lt. Ryan Hardy, logistics support officer for Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti (CLDJ) supply department, was promoted to lieutenant on Jan. 1, 2025.

Hardy, a native of Rogersville, Alabama, served in the United States Marine Corps as a Marine Air Ground Task Force Planner from 2001 to 2005. He began a new journey as a U.S. Navy Reserve supply corps commissioned officer four years ago.

"I knew when I first got to my unit as a Marine that I wanted to be an officer. I worked with many good officers that I admired and was inspired by," said Hardy, "Once I got out and experienced a break in life, I got to a point where I was ready to put a package in and was blessed to be selected."

Hardy's military service brought him full circle at CLDJ. He promoted to lieutenant in the same place where he had earned the rank of sergeant during his final year of enlisted service. His journey through the ranks and services shows his commitment and desire to continue military service.

"I think it would have been surreal to tell me in December 2004, the first time I got promoted here, that I'd be back 20 years later as an officer," said Hardy, "Just the thought of coming around the full circle is amazing."

Hardy has always been passionate about providing logistic support. He values the opportunity to collaborate with his team and support CLDJ's mission.

"I've got a phenomenal team down in N4 with our chief, staff, and contractors," said Hardy, "I love having the opportunity to work and lead a phenomenal team as their division officer."

Hardy hopes to inspire others with similar aspirations and promote resilience by contributing to Camp Lemonniers' culture of excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.

"In life, if you have a goal, understand that goal, understand what it takes to achieve it, and work to get there," said Hardy. "Always try to present your best self."

Camp Lemonnier is an operational installation that enables U.S., allied and partner nation forces to be where they are needed to ensure security and protect U.S. interests. The installation provides world-class support for service members, transient U.S. assets and 36 local tenant commands.
