Fort Novosel recognized departing Soldiers and civilians at a retirement ceremony held Feb. 7 at the Aviation Museum.
Garrison Commander Col. John Miller and Command Sgt. Maj. Gary Williams presented awards to the following:
CW5 Edward Pregana, who is retiring after 34 years in the US Army and reserves. Pregana started his Army career in the 1991 as a reservist and served as a 2nd Lt. for several years before transferring to the warrant officer corps. In addition to his time at Fort Novosel, Pregana has also served at Fort Derussy and Shafter HA, Fort Campbell KY, Osan Air Base, Camp Humphreys, and Yongsan Garrison in Korea, Giebelstadt and Katterbach Germany, and Palmdale CA. As a CH-47 Chinook pilot and safety officer Pregana served multiple combat tours in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and operation Iraqi Freedom. For his service he was awarded the Legion of Merit.
CW4 Kevin Bjurman is retiring after 26 years of service. Bjurman enlisted in the US Air Force in 1998 as a combat crew communications specialist before transferring to the Air National Guard while working on his degree and earning a private pilots’ certificate. He was then accepted into the warrant officer flight program and completed flight training to become an AH-64 Apache pilot. He later transferred to the Army Reserves and was activated multiple time to serve as an instructor pilot at Fort Novosel. In addition to his time at Fort Novosel Bjurman has also served at Fairchild Air Force Base WA, Springfield OH, Fort Cavazos TX, as well as the UK, France, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Afghanistan. He participated in Operations Southern Watch and Northern Watch, as well as Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. For his service he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal.
CW4 Adam Fletcher is retiring after 24 years of service. Fletcher enlisted at the age of 17 in the Missouri Army National Guard, serving as a cannon crewmember. Fletcher went active duty in 2006, and was selected for warrant officer flight training where he graduated at the top of his class and chose to fly the OH-58 Kiowa, and would later go on the fly the AH-64 Apache. His career saw Fletcher serve at Fort Liberty NC, Fort Campbell KY, Joint Base Lewis-McChord WA, and fort Novosel AL, as well as overseas in the UK and Saudi Arabia. He also served three combat tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. For his service he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal.
CW3 Spencer Bush is retiring after 21 years of service as an aircraft electrician. While in the Army Bush served at Fort Campbell KY, Fort Wainwright AK, Hunter Army Airfield GA, Fort Liberty NC, Wheeler Army Airfield HA, Fort Novosel AL, as well as South Korea, Afghanistan, and Iraq. He served multiple tours in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. For his service he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal.
1st Sgt. Bradford Brewczak is retiring after 26 years as a wheeled vehicle mechanic in the US Army. He has served in numerous locations including Fort Liberty NC, Joint Base Lewis-Mcchord WA, Fort Jackson SC, Schofield Barracks and Wheeler Army Airfield HA and Fort Novosel AL. His overseas locations include Camp Essayons and Camp Casey in South Korea. He has also served three combat tours in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom and one humanitarian relief aid deployment to Port-au-Prince Haiti. . For his service he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal with 3rd oak leaf cluster.
1st Sgt. Jon Fagan is retiring after 20 years of service as a Blackhawk helicopter mechanic. He served in numerous locations including Joint Base Lewis McChord WA, Fort Carson CO, Fort Riley KS, Fort Novosel AL, as well as overseas locations including Germany, Korea, Iraq, and Afghanistan. He served multiple tours in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for his service.
Sgt. 1st Class Jose Chacon is retiring after 20 years as a automated logistical specialist, as well as having been a presidential communications officer among other things. He served in the US, Germany, and a tour supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. He received the meritorious service medal for his service.
Sgt. 1st Class Joshua Frasher is retiring after 20 years of Army service. He served in US locations like Schofield Barracks HA, Fort Drum NY, Fort Riley KS, and Fort Novosel AL, as well as Korea and tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He received the meritorious service medal for his service.
Mr. Chris Moore is retiring after 19 years of civil service which followed his military career. During his time in civil service he served as a retirement services officer responsible for supporting several states, and assisted over 6,400 Soldiers in their retirement. He also provided support for other services and those already retired and his experience lead him to being selected by name for the Army’s initial retirement services advisory group. For his service he received the Meritorious Civilian Service Medal.
