The Texas Military Department hosts its 23rd annual Best Warrior Competition from February 24-28, 2025, at Camp Swift, near Bastrop, Texas. This event brings together service members from the Texas National Guard, Texas State Guard, with competitors from our State Partnership Program (SPP) nations, the Republic of Chile, the Czech Republic, and observers from Egypt.
The Best Warrior Competition Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, Command Sergeant Major Jeremy Scribner spoke of the importance of events of this nature. “It is very important for the Department of Defense and the state of Texas, [when we host events like this] they build camaraderie and strengthen interagency relationships between Texas Guardsman and those they serve alongside both at home and abroad,” he said.
The Best Warrior Competition’s design pushes each participant to their limits multiplying the effects of stress with physically demanding events and little sleep in an unknown environment, “Through this competition we reaffirm commitment to excellence, readiness, partnership and unity,” Scribner said. He further stated that this event ensures our people are prepared to meet any challenge with strength and determination.
“Anything we can do to challenge our Soldiers and make them better, makes the units better and will help us and Texas in many ways, whether it’s a state response to a crisis or natural disaster or in a national response overseas,” Scribner said.
Scribner mentioned an additional benefit to these types of collaborative events, “It allows the competitors to see each other’s differences in tactics, unique perspectives and skills. This competition challenges the service members and provides a look into the ever-changing environments of warfare moving into the future,” he said.
The 2025 Best Warrior Competition recognizes the dedication and pursuit of excellence inside every competitor, ensuring these warriors are prepared to overcome any challenge.
