U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to the 34th rotation of Kosovo Force Regional Command East welcomed U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Ronald Ragin and Command Sgt. Maj. Denice Malave, command team of the 21st Theater Sustainment Command, to Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo, Feb. 27, 2025.

Kosovo Force Regional Command-East, or KFOR RC-E, is currently commanded by Oregon Army National Guard’s 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team.

During their visit, Ragin and Malave met with the KFOR RC-E as well as Area Support Group - Balkans command teams to discuss operations, interoperability and soldier welfare. The meeting provided an opportunity to align efforts and ensure the continued success of the KFOR mission in Kosovo.

The 21st TSC command team also joined junior non-commissioned officers and company grade commissioned officers for lunch, offering guidance, discussing soldier well-being, and recognizing excellence.

While addressing the next generation of leaders, Ragin conveyed his pride in the Soldiers.

“You all are the future of the force,” said Ragin. In his conversation with the Soldiers, he stressed the critical role they play in shaping the future of the Army. He highlighted their contributions to enhancing warfighting capabilities and building operational readiness, emphasizing that their efforts are vital to maintaining the Army’s effectiveness.

Two junior NCOs received challenge coins for their outstanding performance and dedication to the NATO-led peacekeeping mission. One of the recipients, Oregon. Army National Guard Sgt. Omar Almerza, an RC-E Communication and Information Systems NCO, expressed appreciation for the chance to engage with the distinguished visitors
    and receive recognition.

“Receiving a coin from them was an absolute honor. This visit recharged my motivation and I’m ready to give my all to the mission,” said Almerza. “I appreciate the opportunity to engage with leaders who truly appreciate Soldiers.”

The relationship between KFOR and 21st TSC remains critical to the success of the peacekeeping mission. These collaborations amplify strengths, mitigate weaknesses, and enhance mission success.

Ragin’s assessment of Camp Bondsteel provided him the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of KFOR’s operations, ensuring continued mission enhancement. He emphasized his commitment to KFOR’s success and the ongoing development of its capabilities.
