KADENA AIR BASE, Japan – Kadena Air Base is opening its gates to the Okinawan community for America Fest, March 22-23, 2025, for the third year in a row. The event will be open from 1100 to 1900 both days.
America Fest is an annual open-house event that showcases Kadena Air Base’s deterrence mission and enhances cultural exchange by fostering candid interaction with the local community.
The two-day event is an opportunity for community members to meet U.S. service members, see advanced static aircraft up close, learn about the 18th Wing mission, and experience American culture from the many people that serve at Kadena Air Base.
“This is a chance for the people who make the mission possible to get some face time with the locals,” said U.S. Air Force Maj. Christopher Chua, America Fest 2025 director. “The aircraft are a major part of the mission, but we want the people to see who makes it happen.”
The Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics hangar will return this year; an exhibit hall full of hands-on experiences designed to inspire youth to learn more about STEM through demonstrations from units across Kadena. This year, in addition to 18th Wing units, the STEM Hangar will also feature local college students from Sci.Tec.College in Chatan.
Normal flying operations will continue for the duration of the open-house in order to carry out the 18th Wing’s mission of ensuring, deterring and defending the area of responsibility.
“We hope that seeing the jets do their thing up close will instill a better understanding of their importance in the guests,” said Chua. “Please bring hearing protection to fully enjoy the weekend’s events.”
SOFA members are highly encouraged to enter through Gates 2 or 3 and take the free on base shuttle to the event site. Pickup locations are at the Kadena BX, Kadena Outdoor Recreation Center, and Kadena Elementary School.
Non-SOFA members should enter through Gate 4 and park on the flightline or enter through the Pedestrian Gate located on Highway 74.

嘉手納基地- 嘉手納基地は、2025年3月22日(土)・23日(日)に「アメリカフェスト」を開催します。3年連続の開催となるこのイベントは地元の皆様をお招きして、両日ともに午前11時から午後7時まで行われます。
アメリカフェストは、嘉手納基地の抑止力の任務について紹介するとともに、地域の方々との率直な対話を促し文化交流を深めることを目的とした、恒例の基地開放イベントです。
この2日間のイベントは、地域の方々が米軍人に会い、最新鋭の航空機を間近で見学し、第18航空団の任務について学び、嘉手納基地に勤務する者達が提供するアメリカ文化を体験する機会となっています。
アメリカフェスト2025のディレクターであるクリストファー・チュア米空軍少佐は、「このイベントは、任務に携わる米軍人達が地元の方々と直接お会いできる機会です。航空機は我々の任務の主要な部分ですが、それを運用・実現しているのは誰なのかを知っていただきたいと思います」と話しました。
科学・技術・工学・数学の格納庫（ステムハンガー、通称：STEM）は、嘉手納基地の各部隊のデモンストレーションを通して、青少年にSTEMについてより深く学んでもらうためにデザインされた、体験型の展示ホールです。今年は第18航空団に加え、北谷町にあるサイ・テク・カレッジの学生も参加する予定です。
イベントの期間中も、第18航空団は、本地域における安全保障、抑止、そして防衛の任務を遂行するため、通常の飛行運用を継続します。
チュア少佐は続けて、「私たちは、航空機の活躍を間近で見ることで、地元の皆様にその重要性をより深く理解していただきたいと願っています。十分に楽しむために、耳栓などをご持参ください」と話しました。
SOFA適用者（地位協定上の者）は、第2・3ゲートから入域し、基地内のシャトルバス（無料）を利用して会場へお越しください。シャトルバス乗り場は、カデナBX、カデナアウトドアレクレーション、カデナ小学校となっています。
一般の方・入域パスをお持ちでない方は、第4ゲート（嘉手納町水釜）から車両で入場し、指示に従って飛行場内に駐車してください。徒歩での入場は、県道74号線沿いにある歩行者専用ゲート（嘉手納町屋良）から可能となっています。
