FORT RILEY, Kan. – Every March Soldiers at Fort Riley observe Athletic Trainer Awareness Month to highlight the vital role athletic trainers play in health and wellness.
The Holistic Health and Fitness program integrates athletic trainers, nutritional specialists, and cognitive professionals to enhance Soldiers' overall well-being. This program is designed to help Soldiers recover from injuries efficiently and regain peak performance, ensuring they remain mission-ready.
“As a certified athletic trainer, I specialize in injury prevention while also teaching classes on mobility and proper functional movement,” said Kimberly Coffee, an athletic trainer for the 1st Sustainment Brigade Health and Fitness Team. “It’s important that Soldiers know about H2F and the resources available to them. We can help them get faster and stronger, whether for the Army Combat Fitness Test or the physical demands of their job. Our goal is to enhance Soldier readiness and lethality.”
H2F providers also assist in injury recovery by placing Soldiers on physical profiles when needed. They offer patient care to those who may not have immediate access to medical facilities, ensuring faster treatment and rehabilitation.
Overall, National Athletic Trainer Awareness Month is an opportunity to recognize these professionals who play a crucial role in keeping Soldiers healthy, resilient, and mission-ready.
