FORT CAVAZOS, TEXAS — Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) has taken over the previous iteration of Physical training, known as Physical Readiness Training (PRT) , and Fort Cavazos offers a program that deep dives into the difference.
The Commander’s Master Fitness Course serves as a bridge for military units that allows Soldiers to become certified in the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT), the Army’s Body Composition Program (ABCP), and Holistic Health and Fitness, or H2F, to name a few areas.
“Attending this course improved my perspective on readiness,” said Staff Sgt. Victoria Bryant, “Fitness is not just lifting weights or running, it’s about taking care of yourself overall.”
The H2F program made massive improvements on the Soldier athlete concept and recognized the need for healthy sleep and mental health resiliency to achieve the mission of the Army 2030 project.
“The Holistic Health and Fitness program opened my eyes to how interconnected physical, mental, and emotional health really are”, said Sgt. Terron Williams, a public affairs non-commissioned officer serving with the 13th Armored Corps Sustainment Command, “The tools laid out in the program have helped my resilience and made me a more lethal Soldier.”
The course, which covers the 5 domains of readiness, which include: Physical, Spiritual, Sleep, Mental, and Nutritional.
The course balances the need for H2F certified officials while engaging the Soldier populace to provide commander’s unique and innovative approaches to fitness. The Army is still securing H2F officials, which include certified dietitians, occupational and physical therapists, and athletic trainers to ensure we are prepared for any mission demand.
“Fitness is the foundation of every successful mission,” said Cpt. Jesse Pisano, the Headquarters, and Headquarters Company commander, 13th Armored Corps Sustainment Command, “A strong body is a strong mind, and in the field, every ounce of endurance and every second of readiness counts.”
The Holistic Health and Fitness teams are set to be fully emplace as part of the Army 2030, a plan in which the Army utilizes modern approaches and innovation breakthroughs to remain on the cutting edge.
