Madison Prep’s Malik Kelley Selects U.S. Army on Signing Day

Kelley joins the Army in Air Defense as a 14U and holds strong to faith as the determinant in his decision-making leading to enlistment. As a 14U Air Defense recruit, Kelley will help the Army sustain air space superiority by providing critical situational awareness, threat detection and early warnings from airspace using the Army’s most advanced air defense technology. “Something I have lived by, that has been instilled in me since I was young is ‘I can do all things through Christ that strengthen me’ and I am doing just that,” Kelley said.

BATON ROUGE, La. — Madison Preparatory Academy graduating Senior, Malik Kelley, selects the U.S. Army as his branch of choice on “signing day”, hosted in the school’s gymnasium at 9:00 a.m., tomorrow, April 2.

Kelley joins the Army in Air Defense as a 14U and holds strong to faith as the determinant in his decision-making leading to enlistment.

As a 14U Air Defense recruit, Kelley will help the Army sustain air space superiority by providing critical situational awareness, threat detection and early warnings from airspace using the Army’s most advanced air defense technology.

“Something I have lived by, that has been instilled in me since I was young is ‘I can do all things through Christ that strengthen me’ and I am doing just that,” Kelley said.

A budding athlete, Kelley ran Track & Field in the 1-mile event, now has an Army signing bonus for over $12k.

“I ran Track & Field for most of high school, even the 800-meter, so I think I will be prepared before boot camp,” Kelley said. “I also wanted to take advantage of any incentive or bonus, before my enlistment and I was blessed to do so.”

Kelley’s signing day, hosted in Madison Preparatory Academy’s gymnasium will have expectations of a traditional signing day, but with the prestige of patriotism and service.

The school and Army’s setup will provide compelling optics for local TV news and is highly relevant as graduation season approaches.
