U.S. Army Recruiting Battalion - Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, La. —— The U.S. Army will enlist 25 men and women from the greater Baton Rouge community in an Oath of Enlistment ceremony—on ice—hosted by the Baton Rouge Zydeco at the Raising Cane’s River Center, tomorrow night, April 5.

The Oath of Enlistment, or swear-in ceremony, of the brave 25 Future Soldiers from the ‘Red Stick’ will take place during the Zydeco hockey game’s first intermission.

Below is the tentative schedule of the game’s events leading to the formal ceremony:

5:00 p.m. Practice For Ceremony on Ice
6:00 p.m. Doors Open to Public
7:00 p.m. Puck Drops (start of game)
7:20/30 p.m. (pending game tempo) Oath Of Enlistment

“During intermission our [Army] swear-in ceremony will be the marquee,” Capt. Terron Riggins, Baton Rouge Recruiting Company Commander, said. “Additionally, we will showcase a video invitation announcing this year’s 250th Army birthday celebration in the ‘Capitol City’ in the upcoming months, and everyone is invited.”

Even more, during the first intermission actual active-duty Soldiers will launch Army T-shirts and other giveaways into the crowd of Zydeco fans in attendance.

“It will be special night to see the start of a new life journey in 25 people from the local community and doing so with special serendipity to each represent a decade of the Army’s 250-year existence,” Riggins said.

Local TV news can enjoy the night’s compelling optics of patriotism, pride and graduation season while capturing fanfare of the Baton Rouge Zydeco hockey team.

Each Future Soldier and uniformed personnel will be available for interview.
