    910th Airlift Wing

The 910th Airlift Wing welcomed it’s 30th wing commander, Col. Chris Sedlacek on April 6, 2025, at Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Ohio. Maj. Gen. Melissa Coburn, 22nd Air Force commander, presided over the assumption of command ceremony.

No stranger to leadership roles, Sedlacek welcomes the opportunity to serve as a wing commander for the second time in his Air Force career, first at the 302nd Airlift Wing, Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado, and now at the 910th. Both units fall under the same numbered Air Force: 22nd AF.

“I want to emphasize to the men and women of this wing that each and every one of you plays a vital role in our success and to that of our nation,” said Sedlacek. “In supporting you, I promise to serve with transparency, fairness and integrity. Our goal is to foster an environment where every Airman feels valued, heard and empowered to accomplish the mission.”

While looking back on his previous command role, Sedlacek takes notice of the nearly identical mission and vision sets of both the 302nd and the 910th. Both units provide agile combat support and tactical airlift with a focus on combat readiness but differ when it comes to their unique Air Force Reserve Command missions. The 302nd is home to a modular aerial firefighting capability, whereas the 910th operates the Department of Defense’s only large-area fixed-wing aerial spray capability to eliminate pest and disease-carrying insects and invasive vegetation and to disperse oil spills in large bodies of water.

“It is only through the strength of our unity and teamwork, our shared vision and dedication to the mission and our support and value for one another that we will overcome obstacles and achieve our objectives,” said Sedlacek. “We must continue to be agile and innovative while transforming for the future and remaining combat ready to adapt to the dynamic landscape of the current security environment.”

As commander of the 22nd AF, Coburn had the opportunity to witness Sedlacek’s leadership prior to him assuming command of the 910th.

“Your leadership style is evident daily in the way you take care for your folks,” said Coburn. “I have no doubt that your extensive experience, proven leadership and proven commitment to the Air Force core values will serve you well as the commander of the 910th. You (Sedlacek) are taking command of an outstanding wing, and I’m very certain that Youngstown will continue to grow and succeed under your direction.”

Rooted in decades of service and commitment to his country, Sedlacek understands the importance of change and took the opportunity to remind the men and women of the 910th that our nation’s defense is only as strong as our ability to adapt and overcome.

“I encourage each of you to embrace change, to think critically, to take calculated risks and continually seek improvement in everything you do,” said Sedlacek. “In exchange, your leadership teams and I will always welcome your feedback and ideas.”

The mission of the 910th AW remains the same - only now, there's a new commander at the helm, Col. Chris Sedlacek. A wing commander who has officially assumed the duties and responsibilities of an installation that's prepared to defend our nation's freedoms.
