Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point leaders hosted N.C. Department of Military and Veterans Affairs Secretary Jocelyn Mallette for an installation visit, April 17, 2025.
The visit included an overview briefing of MCAS Cherry Point’s mission and operations, visits to Fleet Readiness Center East and the Navy Health Clinic, engagement with service members at the Mess Hall, and meetings with the installation leadership to evaluate operational challenges, technological advancements, workforce development and sustainment needs.
Mallette also provided the opening remarks for a volunteer appreciation ceremony to recognize 98 service members, civilians, and their families who had contributed significant hours of volunteer time on the installation and in its surrounding community.
The visit was in keeping with the department’s mission of facilitating the collaboration of the federal government, the state, and all agencies involved, especially as Cherry Point continues to modernize infrastructure to support amphibious and expeditionary operations.
