FORT HOOD, Texas – The 69th Air Defense Artillery Brigade held an Assumption of Responsibility Ceremony at the Phantom Warrior Center at Fort Hood May 13.
Command Sgt. Maj. Finis A. Dodson took over as the new command sergeant major of the 69th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, relieving Sgt. Maj. Jesse Santos, who was the brigade's temporary command sergeant major for the past several months.
Command Sgt. Maj. Richard Clem, the command sergeant major of the 32nd Army Air and Missile Defense Command in Fort Bliss, participated in the passing of the sword.
The tradition of the passing of the sword represents the change in responsibility from one command sergeant major to another, and the sword symbolizes the cutting edge of professionalism that these highly regarded noncommissioned officers demonstrate on a daily basis.
Sgt. Maj. Santos has done a great job leading the brigade in the preceding months, said Col. Jimmy Jenkins, the commander of the 69th ADA Bde.
However, 69th ADA has been waiting for Command Sgt. Maj. Dodson to arrive at Fort Hood for months, and he will fit in the brigade perfectly, Jenkins added.
"I am truly humbled to serve in 69th ADA," Dodson said.
Some of Dodson's goals for the brigade are to maintain high standards of combat and family readiness, Dodson said.
