PINE BLUFF ARSENAL, Ark. -- The sound of thunder erupts from the street on the dawn of a new day. It’s not from a brewing thunderstorm, but it’s the multi-force transportation companies kicking off another fun-filled, two-week training event here in Pine Bluff, Ark., June 5.
Golden Cargo returns to this southern state with the promise of hard work and plenty of skill building for all Soldiers, Marines and civilians involved. The Pine Bluff Arsenal command team, staff and employees extend their welcome, because they know that nothing happens until something moves.
On day one, Soldiers are in good spirits and eagerly awaiting the challenges that await them.
“It’s pretty cool being here to do MOS training with other Soldiers of my unit in this training environment,” said Pfc. Damien Bennett from the 941st Transportation Company out of Charleston, S.C.
Fellow signal support specialist Pfc. Nicholas Matthews, who is also from the 941st, agrees with his comrade.
“It’s great to be here in the tactical operations center actually tracking our first convoy,” Matthews said.
Golden Cargo aims to training Soldiers on how to handle and transport ammunition safely across hundreds of miles among multiple installations. It is two weeks of real-world training for service-members at all levels of command.
Golden Cargo is the premier training mission for reservists of all branches. Lessons learned from this exercise help commanders, non-commissioned officers and civilians evaluate their personnel and prepare for war.
