FORT DIX, N.J. -- As is the nature in every military organization, there comes a time when nameplates change on desks and next to doorways. So it is, at the command section of Army Support Activity-Dix.
ASA-Dix Commander Col. Patrick Slowey has seen a changeover in both of his deputies’ positions recently.
“This has been a time of change, some very competent and good leaders have moved on while other very skilled leaders have moved in to take their place,” said Slowey.
The first leader to move on was Col. Larry Boyd, former deputy for mobilization, who has begun a new chapter in his life in retirement. His replacement, Lt. Col. Cynthia Palinski, has had a long on-going relationship with ASA-Dix as she has served in many roles beginning in the Directorate of Logistics, the Mobilization Readiness Battalion commander, officer-in-charge of the Mobilized Unit In-processing Center, OIC of the Joint Operations Center, and deputy director Directorate for Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security.
The other senior leader to depart the command section is Lt. Col. William Ayers, former deputy to the commander, ASA-Dix. Ayers departed for a new assignment with the Office of the Chief of Army Reserve in Arlington, Va.
Slowey’s new right hand man is Lt. Col. Timothy Connelly, a resident of Orlando, Fla. Connelly has an extensive background with the military police and is also a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. His last assignment was as Chief of Plans, J3, Joint Sustainment Command-Afghanistan (143rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command), Kandahar, Afghanistan.
Connelly is very excited to be at Dix. “Everything we do here, I have been on the customer side of my whole career. I actually demobed thru Dix this past January on my way home from Afghanistan,” he said.
“Having mobed twice, I understand the process. Being on this side of the process has been very enlightening. I know the challenge will be to continually make the process better for our customers. Joint basing has allowed us to focus more on the process of mobilization and demobilization. We will continue to work to keep Dix a robust operation that supports the Army Reserve mission,” said Connelly.
Connelly’s family, wife Irma and four year-old, Alyssa, live in Florida.
