KABUL, Afghanistan - The attack that killed the head prosecutor for Khwajai Omari District, Ghazni province, this morning is another example of the targeting of Afghan public servants and the developing rule of law in the country.
Initial reports indicate Mohammad Riza was assassinated by insurgents at his home near the Khwajai Omari District center. Afghan National Police responded to the incident and are conducting an investigation.
"Improving the rule of law is intimidating to insurgents who only want to force their own ideas on Afghans, and this act shows they will do anything to attempt to intimidate those serving their country," said Navy Capt. Jane Campbell, ISAF Joint Command spokesperson. "This tragic incident will not keep ISAF from assisting our Afghan partners in developing sufficient governance to serve the people of Afghanistan."
