FORWARD OPERATING BASE WARRIOR, Iraq – During an award ceremony, on Forward Operating Base Warrior, July 10, 40 “Bandit” soldiers of 1st Battalion, 37th Armor, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division out of Fort Bliss, Texas, were recognized for their outstanding accomplishments since arriving in Kirkuk, Iraq, in November.
During the ceremony Spc. Michael Hernandez, a combat medic from Company C, 1/37th Armor received the Combat Medic Badge for providing medical care to Soldiers while under hostile enemy fire.
Thirty-one “Bandit” soldiers were also recognized for direct participation in ground combat action and receivied the Combat Infantryman Badge.
Spc. Ramil Bisnar, a “Bandit” team leader with Company A and a native of Alaska was awarded the CIB after being engaged by the enemy on several occasions. He said all of his hard work paid off with this recognition.
The Combat Action Badge was also awarded to eight soldiers.
Following the ceremony Lt. Col. Geoffrey Catlett, the “Bandit” commander spoke to his soldiers about how proud he is of them for a job well done and reminded them to stay safe after arriving home.
“All of you have made a difference because of your professionalism there is no doubt about it,” said Lt. Col. Catlett. “Just remember when you go home to have your well-deserved fun and be safe.”
