CHARLESTON, S.C. – The 218th Brigade Support Battalion, South Carolina Army National Guard, has begun its return from a two-week training exercise in Camp Atterbury, Ind.
The BSB played a vital role in the support of the Army Northern Command training exercise Vibrant Responses 10.2, which the BSB was tasked with moving nearly 200 vehicles and over 400 Soldiers to and from Camp Atterbury. The BSB Guardsmen will have driven over 1400 miles, for six days total at their mission’s completion.
This will be one of the largest wheeled vehicle convoys ever conducted by a National Guard unit in the United States in recent history.
The first convoy of the BSB began July 21 from Camp Atterbury and they are projected to return to Summerville and Orangeburg Armories late July 23.
The second convoy will be leaving Indiana July 22 and returning to Waterboro, Varnville and Kingstree Armories on July 24.
