Afghanistan’s first operational regional logistics center will be located in RC-North, marking an important step forward for the establishment of a fully operational logistics system. In a briefing attended by Maj. Gen. Patang, 303rd Corps, and Lt. Col. James Phillips, 10th Brigade Support Battalion commander, members of the Logistics Mobile Training Team established a date for operational capability.
The logistical hub will support Afghan National Police, Afghan National Border Police and the Afghan Civil Order Police in the north’s nine provincial headquarters.
Afghan logistics has continued to improve with the current effort to employ a United States Army-based logistics system, which the team has been developing since 2007. Now the system is ready for implementation of the Regional Logistics Center’s capabilities along with the Provincial Supply Points.
RLC operations will start with the warehouse section, which is expected to begin supporting Class II requisitions within the next 30 to 60 days for all RC-N provinces. All other sections of the RLC such as vehicle, weapons storage and distribution, and fuel operations will soon follow.
The successful implementation and operational capabilities of the RC-N RLC supports the 1st Brgade Combat Team’s reveals partner and mentoring mission with the ANP is steadily helping them find confidence with the Afghan logistics system.
