MOSUL, Iraq (16 Feb. 06) -- The Hammam Al Alil Regional Training Center held a graduation ceremony for the first ever class of Iraqi Army medics.
The IA Medics attended a 30 day training course teaching Soldiers the basics in treating injuries on the battlefield.
As soon as the students arrive at the school their training begins. They must pass written tests and perform emergency tasks to put them under pressure to simulate battlefield conditions.
"I want to congratulate each of you for taking this intense class and graduating today, I am proud of each one for completing the class," said Iraqi Lt. Col. Yasseem, commander, RTC.
During the course each Soldier is taught how to control bleeding and shock, CPR, airway management, how to treat a chest injury, and administering an IV.
Before the ceremony ended, each graduate received a certificate of completion and their individual field medical bag.
The graduating medics are now ready to be assigned to Iraqi Army units to provide medical support.
