FORWARD OPERATING BASE FARAH, Afghanistan - Two Afghan National Army soldiers were medically treated by coalition forces at Forward Operating Base Farah after sustaining wounds from an Improvised Explosive Device explosion which detonated near the village of Masaw in Pusht Rod district, Afghanistan, August 13.
One ANA soldier succumbed to injuries, while the other remains in critical condition and is currently undergoing surgery conducted by the U.S. Navy Forward Surgical Team on FOB Farah. He will likely be transported to another hospital for further treatment.
One additional ANA soldier was injured as a result of the IED and was transported to an ANA Garrison to receive treatment.
The IED struck the vehicle of the ANA soldiers while they were conducting a combat patrol in Pusht Rod district.
