It has been 90 years since women received the right to vote under the 19th Amendment, and an event at the Patriot Club at Fort Sill, Okla., hopes to continue progress – not just for women, but for everyone in the Lawton-Fort Sill community.
Dozens of employers, educators and community outreach organizations were on hand at the First Women’s Equality Day Career Advancement Fair, which was hosted by Fort Sill’s Equal Employment Opportunity and Equal Opportunity Offices, to answer questions, provide job application information and give guidance on career advancement opportunities, August 19. Matline Butler-Liverman, acting Fort Sill EEO manager, encouraged participants to network and remain flexible.
“Always remain teachable. Don’t let this be your last stop. You may not be able to use them, the pearls of wisdom that you’ve gained here, but share them with someone else,” said Butler-Liverman.
Approximately 300 people were expected to participate in the event, which Butler-Liverman hopes to repeat.
