Two senior officers from the Iraqi Prime Minister’s National Operations Centre visited Hungarian Ministry of Defense Administration Bureau and the Ministry of Interior National Crisis Centre on Aug. 15.
This visit was conducted by request of the NATO Training Mission – Iraq which is assisting Iraq in building an effective and sustainable security force addressing the security needs of the Iraqi people. BG Waad and BG Khalid from the Iraqi PM NOC visited Hungary in order to gain information about the Hungarian Military and Civilian Crisis Management system. As expected this experience should help them to improve the existing Iraqi system.
“Iraqi National Crisis Management and Civil Emergency Planning development is crucial to the Iraqi development efforts, that is why we’re very grateful to our NATO partners for this excellent opportunity to gain Hungarian experience”, said Chief of Staff of the Iraqi PM NOC BG Waad.
NTM-I Strategic Security Advisor & Mentor Division PM NOC adviser and mentor, Lt. Colonel István Juhász, was responsible for organizing the visit to the Hungarian Military and National Crisis Management Centre to provide new knowledge and expertise for the Iraqis in Crisis Response Systems, National Disaster Management organizations and Civil Emergency Planning.
"It is critical for us, in the long-term, to continue to support NTM-I in training, assisting and mentoring ISF to help build effective and sustainable forces and command structures that address the security needs of Iraqi people", he said. At the same time Hungary has been providing support for the NTM-I in instructing Iraqi senior officers in the Hungarian Defence Forces Training Centre. During the second part of August, they participated in a Counter-improvised explosive devise training course.
