KABUL - The Badghis provincial governor condemned the Aug. 25, slaying of two Spanish military instructors and one interpreter during a shura held with provincial elders and an International Security Assistance Force provincial reconstruction team commander in the village of Qal' ah-ye Now in Badghis province Saturday.

Gov. Delbar Jan Arman discussed various security issues with Spanish Army Col. Luis Martinez Trascasa, as well as more than 200 elders and 40 authorities during the shura.

The assembly agreed to not tolerate tribal divisions based on language or nationality, to fight against drug trafficking, to condemn acts of terrorism and pursue those who break the law and to promote security.

The deputy governor, provincial heads of the Afghan National Police and the National Directorate of Security as well as two women leaders were also among the participants; the director for women affairs and the provincial council secretary.

Following the event, the group walked to the former PRT base to observe a moment of silence and place flowers where the trainers were killed.

The two Spanish military instructors and one interpreter were killed on Aug. 25, when an ANP member opened fire on them in an unprovoked attack. Following the attack, ISAF troops returned, fire killing the ANP member.
