NAPLES, Italy -- NATO’s Standing NATO Maritime Group 2 visited the port of Casablanca, Sept. 16-20, as part of NATO’s Mediterranean Dialogue.
During the SNMG2 visit to Casablanca, a wide range of activities were carried out to increase mutual trust and understanding between Morocco and NATO. Commodore Michiel B. Hijmans, Royal Netherlands Navy, commander of SNMG2, visited several civilian and military authorities. During these visits he applauded Morocco’s contribution to Operation Active Endeavour and discussed possibilities for future cooperation. The Moroccan frigate Mohammed V and the SNMG2 ships conducted an integrated exercise, in the framework of NATO’s Mediterranean Dialogue, with advanced ship manoeuvring and flight operations.
