ZABUL, Afghanistan - Soldiers of the Afghan National Army’s 1st Battalion, 2nd Brigade, 205th Corps partnered with coalition forces to provide medical care to Afghans of the Landey and Nabarhu villages, Naw Bahar District, Zabul province, Oct. 16 to 18.

Approximately 50 patients, mostly women and children, were seen during the three-day Village Medical Outreach Program. Along with medical care, basic hygiene classes were also conducted.

Women that were present for the VMOP were also informed of upcoming prenatal and hygiene classes to be given by a local midwife.

Locals in the area say they are afraid to travel to the local clinic or do not have the money or transportation to do so. This VMOP allowed the locals of Landey and Nabarhu villages to receive treatment and education without the fear of unsafe roads or transportation expenses.
