    Story by Capt. Jennifer Hunnicutt

    Allied Joint Force Command Naples

BAGHDAD - Brig. Mark N. Pountain assumed command of the Training, Education and Doctrine Advisory Division of the NATO Training Mission - Iraq from Brig. John Wootton Oct. 3.

During the medal presentation, Lt. Gen. Michael Barbero, NTM-I commander, and Maj. Gen. Claudio Angelelli, NTM-I deputy commander, praised Brigadier Wootton for the outstanding work he did while serving in NTM-I and particularly highlighted the progress made in modernising Iraqi Army Officer Training and Education.

Barbero welcomed Pountain, to the ‘NTM-I family’. Both of the generals expressed their confidence that the commander would maintain the same high level of professional working standards his predecessor had achieved.

Pountain is well suited for leading the multi-national division, having served in a number of multi-national appointments including military attaché to Chief of Staff of the United Nations’ Protection Force in Bosnia, military attaché to NATO’s Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe and Commander Air in NATO’s Headquarters Allied Rapid Reaction Corps.

In addition, he has also held a number of appointments dealing with planning, policy and personnel.
