CAMP ATTERBURY, Ind. -- Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center hosted the first game of the basketball tournament championship between Camp Atterbury and Fort Knox, Nov. 6. The teams compete in a best-of-three elimination, and the winner advances to play Fort Campbell, Ky., for the championship.
Camp Atterbury was unrelenting in the first round, scoring point after point against the defending champion Fort Knox players, winning the first round 49-24. During the second round, Fort Knox came out strong and was not going down without a fight - every basket Camp Atterbury sank was answered by Fort Knox - but in the end Camp Atterbury was the victor, 40-36. Camp Atterbury now moves forward to play Fort Campbell for the championship next month.
“I think we will play well against Fort Campbell. I feel like we can beat anyone we play against as long as we continue to pride ourselves on defense and make good decisions on offense,” said Stephen Clark, of Franklin, Ind., Camp Atterbury player.
