SION, Switzerland - The first “out of country” professional development course for Iraqi Army non-commissioned officers began Oct. 25 at the Junior NCO Training Centre in Sion, Switzerland.
The Intermediate NCOs Course held there is part of an NCO development program that the NATO Training Mission - Iraq Training and Equipment Synchronization Cell plans to expand upon in 2011.
It is designed for NCOs who hold leadership positions at the company level and creates a new character for Iraq’s NCOs where they are pivotal members in the Armed Forces.
International English-speaking mentors and experienced teachers instruct the NCOs in leadership, particularly in international environments and units; cultural awareness; communication skills; and applying these abilities in the workplace.
In addition to this course, NTM-I, in close coordination with Iraqi Armed Forces, developed six NCO courses in the Iraqi Regional Training Center that boasts 226 graduates and eight train-the-trainer courses with 212 graduates.
