SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. – Mobility airmen assigned to Air Mobility Command teams this year were recognized Nov. 17 by the AMC commander as winners of 2010 Chief of Staff Team Excellence Awards.
Those teams include the C-17 Refuel Value Stream Analysis Team with the 726th Air Mobility Squadron at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, and the 612th Air Operations Center/Air Mobility Division, Haiti Flight Operations Coordination Center Team from the 15th Air Mobility Operations Squadron of the 615th Contingency Response Wing at Travis Air Force Base, Calif.
In the awards announcement from Gen. Raymond E. Johns Jr., AMC commander, he said, “Both teams put forth a tremendous effort to enhance mission capabilities, and their 'best practices' can now be shared within the air force to improve operational performance with sustained results.”
In an Air Force News report, Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz said the innovations and business solutions the competing Air Force teams developed to improve processes and conserve resources were outstanding.
“These award winners truly exemplify our core values,” Schwartz said. “They are dedicated to making us more effective and more efficient, both of which are critical for the Air Force in today's challenging strategic environment.”
The report also showed there were five teams selected Air Force-wide and the improvements made by the five award-winning teams and other 16 nominees are expected to save the Air Force more than $198 million in the first year alone.
“The competition was extremely tough this year, with 73 teams competing at major commands resulting in 21 Air Force-level nominations,” Grover Lindsey, Air Force Manpower Agency Performance Management division chief, said in the Air Force report.
