VISTA, Calif., -- Marines with Combat Logistics Battalion 1, Combat Logistics Regiment 1, 1st Marine Logistics Group participated in a Christmas parade, Dec. 4.
Four Marines represented CLB-1 as the color guard, seven others drove a Humvee and a 7-ton truck in the parade.
“This was my first time [participating in the] color guard for a parade,” said Cpl. Bianca Holguin, radio operator, CLB-1, CLR-1, 1st MLG. “It was really exciting for me. You have all these people watching you and the only thing that is going through your head is not doing anything wrong,” said Holguin, from El Paso, Texas.
As the Marines marched and drove by, many children pointed and looked at them with amazement.
“All I could see was the children,” said Cpl. Shaun Fudge, administration clerk, CLB-1, CLR-1, 1st MLG. “They were pulling on their parents trying to get them to see what they were seeing. It was pretty fun to watch,” said Fudge, from New Madison, Ohio.
Hundreds of people lined the streets to see the array of floats and colorful costumes which consisted of various businesses and political figures as well as school bands, make their way to the ending point.
As the parade was coming to an end and the Marines were waiting to be released many passersby thanked them for their service and what they do.
“It’s good to see how much people really appreciate the military,” said Pfc. Daniel Del Toro, admin clerk, CLB-1, CLR-1, 1st MLG. “I was proud to be apart of the parade while in uniform,” said Del Toro, from Madera, Calif.
