CONTINGENCY OPERATING BASE ADDER, Iraq — Soldiers with the 2nd Detachment, 8th Ordnance Company, 110th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 224th Sustainment Brigade, 103rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), held their combat patch ceremony recently at Contingency Operating Base Adder, Iraq.
The ceremony began at 8 a.m. with the arrival of Command Sgt. Maj. Edward Andrews, senior enlisted advisor with the 110th CSSB, and Lt. Col. David Scheideler, commander of the 110th CSSB, and a Beatrice, Neb., native, were the distinguished guests.
In accordance with army regulation the deployed soldiers earned the right to wear the 82nd Sust. Bde. patch on their right shoulder. They received their initial patch after a challenging 30-day period.
“I feel that it is a great honor to fight for my country, and this being my first deployment, the awarding of this patch is a representation of our sacrifices,” said Pfc. Keith Gonzalez, Standard Army Ammunition System-Modernization clerk with 2nd Det., 8th Ord. Co., and an Oxnard, Calif., native.
“It was an honorable experience that made me proud as a leader knowing that I am responsible for my soldiers’ safe arrival home,” said Sgt. Ashley Brown, ammunition section sergeant with 2nd Det., 8th Ord. Co., and a Reidsville, N.C., native.
Many 2nd Det., 8th Ord. Co., soldiers, non-commissioned officers and leaders said they are proud to be serving their country in support of Operation New Dawn.
