CONTINGENCY OPERATING BASE ADDER, Iraq – Soldiers with the 565th Quartermaster Company, 110th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, and the 224th Sustainment Brigade103rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), went on a Ziggurat tour led by the 110th CSSB Dec. 23, at Contingency Operating Base Adder, Iraq.
The tour gave soldiers a chance to learn some history of the region as well as know about the Ziggurat, one of the oldest (2100 B.C.) historical structures in Iraq.
“It was a really good experience; it was nice to see something new for a change and learn some of the history of the region,” said 2nd Lt. Antoinette Selby, platoon leader with the 565th QM Company, and a Leesville, La., native. “I was also able to get some good pictures that I can send back to friends and family.”
“I enjoyed getting away from the everyday grind,” said Sgt. Clifton Batemon, warehouse non-commissioned officer with the 565th QM Company, and a Jacksonville, Ark., native.
“There was a lot of walking involved, but I learned a lot and it was definitely a worthwhile experience. On a personal note, I too got the opportunity to go on the tour and enjoyed it thoroughly. It is amazing to think that something that old still stands, not to mention all the history behind it and the area.”
