RAF MILDENHALL, England -- The Air Force Special Operations Command's top enlisted member visited with the air commandos of the 352nd Special Operations Group and Joint Special Operations Air Component-Europe, Jan. 27 and 28, to get a firsthand view of their unique capabilities.

Chief Master Sgt. William Turner has been the command chief at AFSOC for less than two months, but is no stranger to special operations. With special operations assignments dating back to 1991, the chief brings 20 years of experience to the table.

While here, the chief also had the opportunity to visit Dormitory 215, where most unaccompanied airmen of the group reside.

Between visiting the various units within the 352nd SOG and the JSOAC-E, Chief Turner sat down with the senior enlisted members as well as the enlisted 352nd SOG annual award nominees to share some of his experience as well as discuss leadership, readiness and any issues or concerns.

"From the moment I witnessed Chief Turner genuinely interact with his airmen, I felt his passion for what he does," said Senior Airman William Boone, an annual award nominee. "I was privileged to discuss what inspires the chief to possess such enthusiasm and based on his response, it's safe to say that we're in good hands."

"As leaders, we have to get out and talk to our people," said the chief. "Professional military education provides a good foundation, but the rest is up to us.

"Win or lose, your supervisors have said you're the best of the best," he said. "So that tells me you're doing great things. Stay focused on the things that inspire you and keep bringing honor to our country."

Turner ended the visit by attending the 352nd SOG's annual awards ceremony, Jan. 28, where he was the guest speaker.
