KUWAIT " Governors Mitt Romney of Massachusetts, Mark Blunt of Missouri and Brian Schweitzer of Montana visited servicemembers and Department of the Army civilians deployed here in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom Tuesday.
The governors attended a Third U.S. Army, update briefing before traveling to view separate areas around theater. Romney visited Camp Buehring where he ate lunch with troops from Massachusetts. Blunt toured the 1107th Aviation Classification and Repair Depot facility, meeting with the Soldiers of the unit from Missouri. He shared lunch with troops after his tour speaking of their morale and giving encouraging words.
"I was very impressed by what I saw today," Blunt said. "I'm very proud and Missouri is very proud of all of you."
Schweitzer participated in a tour of the Forward Repair Activity/Up-Armor Facility then ate lunch with Soldiers from Montana.
He talked to the Soldiers about college football, beer breweries and his time as an engineer.
"He seems like an extremely down-to-earth guy, which is rare in politics," said Sgt. 1st Class David Tracy, Battery B, 1st Battalion 12th Field Artillery Regiment operation sergeant. "Montana is a small state that's not represented very much so it's great that he took the time to come over here."
