PORTSMOUTH, Va. – A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter rescue crew medevaced a 59-year-old woman at 12:27 p.m. Thursday from the cruise ship Explorer of the Seas 230 miles east of Cape Henry, Va.
Coast Guard watchstanders received a call at 8:50 a.m. from a crewmember aboard the Explorer of the Seas stating that the woman's medical condition necessitated immediate medical attention.
Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., responded by sending the helicopter crew and a C-130 aircrew.
The woman, her husband, and a nurse from aboard the cruise ship, were taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
