URUZGAN, Afghanistan – Afghan National Police apprehended a known Taliban improvised explosive device facilitator March 14, in western Uruzgan province during a combined patrol by Afghan and Coalition forces. ANP officials said Coalition forces were acting as advisors during the patrol and provided information leading to the apprehension of the suspect.
The arrest was the second capture of an IED facilitator in Uruzgan province in the last week, according to Afghan provincial officials and coalition forces operating in the area. On March 11, another IED facilitator was captured in the Tangi valley region of Uruzgan. Both men are currently in the custody of the Afghan National Police.
