Highlighting Cherry Point's warriors.
What’s your job?
My job is building airfields. We build runways and helicopter pads out of M2 matting. We build the airfields with lights, markings and arresting gear to stop aircraft making emergency landings.
What’s your favorite aspect of your job?
I like being the among the first guys on the groud in any situation, working to get the runways up.
What’s the most challenging part?
There’s a lot of problem solving. You never know what you’re going to face that day. There’s always a new task that you’ve never done before.
How does your job support the mission of 2nd MAW and MCAS Cherry Point?
We’re the first air element in there to build the runways or the helicopter pads. That way we can get helicopters and other air support in to help the troops on the ground.
How does your job differ from garrison to the field?
In garrison, there’s a lot more training as a leader. Then when you get in the field, you get to watch the junior Marines perform and I get a lot of pride in seeing that because I trained them.
