KABUL, Afghanistan — Over 200 people, including the Mayor of Kabul, attended the grand opening of the new Fadwazi Family Park, March 20, a collaborative project between the citizens of Afghanistan and the Combined Forces Special Operations Component Command-Afghanistan.
The park provides a location for children, adults and families to gather together and enjoy healthy outdoor activities in a clean and safe environment. The park will enhance the quality of life in the local area, stimulate the local economy, increase property values and potentially attract business.
Engineer Mohammad Younis Nawandish, Mayor of Kabul, and Colonel Omar, Chief of Zune for Third Macran were in attendance at the ceremony, alongside over 75 local children who spent the day playing in the new park.
This project was requested by the former mayor of Kabul and was coordinated with Mr. Haji Habbibulah, the Kabul Director of Landscaping and Horticulture, who presides over the Kabul city parks. Construction of the project began in August 2010 and was constructed by local citizens of Afghanistan.
