MOSUL, Iraq (June 14, 2006, 2006) --The Ninewa Province Provisional Reconstruction Team celebrated the opening of its newly constructed operations building on Forward Operating Base Marez, Mosul, Iraq. The PRT recently moved from FOB Courage, which is scheduled to be ceremoniously turned over to the Iraqi government.

The new building-opening ceremony was high lighted by recognizing the hard work and efforts of staff by presenting awards, and certificates of recognition by Mr. Cameron Munter, PRT leader.

"Ninewa Provisional Reconstruction Team, Mosul, Iraq extends their sincere appreciation to all those that helped to make the Mosul PRT the best in Iraq," said Munter. "At this time we also remember those of our brothers who have died while serving."

The awards presentation started with the U.S. Air Force's 557th Expeditionary Red Horse Squadron being recognized for not only their hard work and dedication completing the new PRT building, but also for preparing other locations on FOB Marez for occupation by other units moving from FOB Courage.

The 557th was awarded for contributions in the areas of planning, design, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and heating-ventilation and cooling systems.

"Thanks to their efforts, PRT personnel are operating from a high-quality, efficient and attractive facility, and can continue their capacity building efforts with the Iraqi people," Munter said.

After awarding the 557th, Munter recognized the PRT advanced party, consisting of US Army, Navy and civilian personnel, for the smooth transition of relocating from FOB Courage to FOB Marez.

"This relocation involved the movement, receipt, staging and distribution of equipment, furniture, office supplies, personal belongings, and tactical and non-tactical vehicles," he said. "This work required skillful coordination between numerous contactors and U.S. Army and Air Force units."

Finally, departing PRT members were recognized for their work and efforts.

"Thank you for all the hard work you have done for the Ninewa PRT and the people of Ninewa during your tour in Iraq," said Munter. "Your tremendous efforts reflect great credit on you, the PRT and the United States."
