CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait – Brig. Gen. Wayne Brock marked the end of his command with the 335th Signal Command (Theater) (Provisional), Third Army, during a change of command ceremony at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, April 30.

Brig. Gen. Brock, a Greenville, S.C., native, after 13 months of his command, passed the colors to Col. Kaffia Jones, a San Jose, Calif., native, as she prepares to take command of the 335th.

The 335th ensures Third Army continues to stay always ready maintaining a telecommunication infrastructure to effectively and accurately move information, data and communications for the Warfighters within Third Army’s 20-country area of responsibility.

“Working for Brig. Gen. Brock has been a tremendous opportunity,” said Capt. John M. Underberg, a Sioux Fall, S.D., native, who serves as the company commander for the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 335th, Third Army. “He has been a great mentor and leader.”

His hard work and leadership did not escape the view of his leaders.

“Brig. Gen. Brock has led the 335th Signal Command through many high-speed chases and races during his time here,” said Maj. Gen. Peter M. Vangjel, Third Army deputy commanding general. “Brig. Gen. Brock has been a super commander as well as an astute mentor.”

During his remarks, Brock expressed his appreciation to the soldiers and Airmen of the 335th.

“Thank you for your time here. Thank you for the leadership, mentorship and guidance that you have given me these past 13 months,” said Brock. “It has truly been an honor to work with every one of you.”

As Brock prepares to leave, the soldiers and airmen of the 335th look forward to their new leadership.

“I look forward to Col. Jones bringing her insight and experience from the two years she has spent in Afghanistan,” said Underberg.

Col. Jones hopes to live up to these expectations.

“I want to thank the leadership for intrusting me with the responsibility to participate in this engaging and relevant organization and to continue this organization to the next level,” said Col. Jones. “My goal over the next year is to provide unparallel support to the warfighter while ensuring all soldiers are mentored, developed and empowered to achieve excellence,” said Jones.
