QAISAR, Afghanistan – Infrastructure was built in order to sustain the International Security Assistance Force mission on Combat Outpost Qaisar by airmen from the U.S. Air Force April 29.
Service mebers from the 877th Expeditionary Prime Base Engineer Emergency Force Squadron constructed a new dining facility, gym facility and a morale, welfare and recreation area. They also worked on generator reconsolidation.
“We want to make the quality of life better for soldiers,” said U.S. Air Force 1st Lt. Pederson Hanson, project manager, detachment northwest Afghanistan, 877th EPBS. “We’re getting the work done to make the mission better. We’re enablers.”
The airmen work hand-in-hand with the soldiers on COP Qaisar to meet infrastructure requirements and requests.
“We have a great relationship with the Prime BEEF airmen,” said U.S. Army 1Lt. Kevin LoRusso, battery fire support officer, 1st Battalion, 84th Field Artillery Regiment, 170th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, who serves as the liaison officer with the detachment. “They work hard to help us with our needs and give us everything to have a functional COP.”
With airmen from 11 units throughout the U.S. with skill sets ranging from electricians to carpenters, the Prime BEEF detachment northwest supports COPs Qaisar and Ghormach. This was the detachment’s third time working to build COP Qaisar capabilities.
