OKINAWA, Japan - The Installation Personnel Administration Center here has opened administrative satellite centers at Camps Courtney, Hansen, Kinser, Schwab and Marine Corps Air Station Futenma.
The purpose of the ASCs is to provide commanders and senior enlisted members with local administrative support aboard all designated Marine Corps camps on Okinawa, said Master Sgt. Abraham Negron, the staff noncommissioned officer-in-charge of IPAC, Headquarters and Service Battalion, Marine Corps Base Camp Butler.
The ASCs are capable of handling audits, re-issue of meal cards, permanent change of assignment orders, career status bonuses, MyPay pin resets, Survivor Benefit Plans and serve as a liaison between Marines and IPAC.
Currently, a select few ASCs have identification card services with others to follow soon.
In the past, Marines were traveling long distances from their respective camps to take care of administrative issues at the IPAC on Camp Foster, said Negron. This created a loss of manpower hours at the unit level, thus affecting mission accomplishment.
The administrative support provided at the ASCs is currently not all inclusive, said Negron. However, we are constantly reviewing suggestions, procedures and capabilities to further assist our customers.
“Prior to the ASC’s existence, Marines from camps such as Schwab, Hansen and Courtney all had to board The Green Line in order to come to the main IPAC located in Camp Foster for basic administrative issues. Due to the distance from those camps and the stops along the way, the Commanders would lose their Marines for hours,” said Chief Warrant Officer Maria P. Pettus, IPAC Deputy Director.
With the establishment of the ASC’s, Marines can now take care of their administrative concerns on their own camps, said Pettus. The ASC’s maintain a database tracking all Electronic Personnel Administration Requests to the IPAC and a list of customers assisted.
“We encourage all Marines to utilize the ASC’s on their camps before coming to the main IPAC on Camp Foster,” said Pettus. “We are there to assist them on a daily basis. They are open during chowtime to assist any Marines not able to come to the ASC during regular work hours.”
Services available at IPAC Foster remain available, Negron said. The ASC initiative restores lost man hours traveling to the IPAC Foster and gives it back to the unit commander, improving mission accomplishment.
“I’d like to strongly encourage everyone to use the ASCs,” Negron said. “In order to successfully take care of our Marines, local unit administrators must maintain an open dialogue with our satellite centers. We are here to serve our customers and provide them with the best support experience possible. Additionally, we always accept any suggestions that will improve the way we conduct business with our Marines and their families.”
