Story by Pfc. Cory D. Polom

    II Marine Expeditionary Force

    Job Title: Motor Vehicle Operator
Unit: Marine Air Support Squadron - 1
    Hometown: Memphis, Tenn.
    Date Joined: Aug. 21, 2007

    Q: What’s your job?
A: My job is to issue all the equipment needed in all the tactical vehicles MASS-1 uses in both training missions and deployments

Q: What’s your favorite aspect of your job?
A: My favorite part of my job is the sanctuary where I work. I can do my job in a peaceful environment so I can better support my unit and the Marine Corps.

Q: What’s the most challenging part?
A: The hardest part of the job is finding the manpower to help carry out and load up all the equipment that tactical vehicles need. A lot of the equipment is heavy and bulky so it’s harder to fit them in the tiny spaces available.

Q: How does your job support the mission of 2nd MAW and MCAS Cherry Point?
A: Any time a vehicle leaves from MASS-1 to support a 2nd MAW mission, it is my job to make sure that vehicle has everything it needs to be fixed on the road if it were to break down.
