What’s your job?
I am a doggy nurse. It depends on the animal, but I usually look for lumps, bumps and vaccinate and get them ready to be seen by the veterinarian.
What’s your favorite aspect of your job?
My favorite part is working with the military working dogs. There’s a lot of diversity everywhere you go with this job. At my last duty station at Fort Polk in Louisiana I assisted looking after 35 goats, so this job can be interesting.
What’s the most challenging part?
The most challenging part of my job is doing the drug calculations.
How does your job support the mission of 2nd MAW and MCAS Cherry Point?
We think of the animals as a part of someone’s family, almost as if they were one of their children. If we can give the troops peace-of-mind knowing their animals are in good hands it’s less stress for them completing their mission.
