VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - A Marine from Tyler, Texas was meritoriously promoted to his current rank during a formation at Marine Corps Training and Advisory Group aboard Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story, Va., Sept. 15.
Cpl. Jared Sackett who is a Bullard High School class of 2008 graduate, was one of five Marines selected for meritorious promotions at Third Marine Division, Okinawa, Japan. Third Marine Division had more than 2,000 Marines eligible for this type of promotion and the Division’s leadership identified and selected Sackett for having a collective standard of proficiency that exceeded all of his peers and therefore best qualified to get promoted.
Sackett checked into MCTAG in September of 2011 and is currently serving as an administrative clerk. Prior to checking into MCTAG, Sackett served as an administrative clerk with Headquarters Battalion, Third Marine Division, Okinawa, Japan. During his time in Okinawa, he participated in numerous exercises including; Exercise Key Resolve 2010 in the Korean Peninsula, and Operation Tomodachi in Yokota, Japan.
His parents Dwayne and Kelly Sackett reside in Poyner, Texas.
Marine Corps Training and Advisory Group is a unit in the Marine Corps that provides conventional training and advisor teams to work alongside partner Nations' security forces.
