    Italian Brigade 'Sassari' units complete the transfer of authority in all task forces

    FARAH, Afghanistan – This morning, the transfer of authority ceremony between the Italian 187th Parachute Regiment "Folgore," commanded by Col. Gianmarco Badialetti (Italian army), and the Italian 152nd Infantry Regiment “Sassari,” commanded by the new commander of Task Force South Col. Gianluca Carai (Italian army) was held in Farah.

    With this ceremony, the Mechanized Brigade “Sassari” completes the transfer of authority in all the task forces under its responsibility in Regional Command West. The 152nd Regiment now is in charge of some of the most important routes that cross the Italian contingent area of responsibility. All the units have brought with them their Battle Standards, symbol of the story of the Regiment and their commitment to its country.

    For the first time, in an Operational Theater are present:

    The Battle Standard of the 3rd Bersagliere (Light Infantry) Regiment, called “Glorioso Terzo” (Glorious Third), the most decorated unit of Italy and responsible of the Provincial Reconstruction Team in Herat.

    The Battle Standard of the “San Marco” Marines Regiment, for the first time deployed as an infantry regiment and responsible of Task Force Southeast.

    The Battle Standard of the 5th Engineers Regiment responsible of Task Force Genio.

    The Standard of the 5th Army Aviation Regiment “Rigel”, responsible of the Aviation Battalion.

    Returning for the third time to Afghanistan are the 151st and 152nd Infantry Regiments of the Mechanized Brigade “Sassari,” and for the second time the 66th Airmobile Infantry Regiment “Trieste,” responsible of Task Force North, South, and Center, respectively.
