    ZABUL PROVINCE, Afghanistan – Sgt. James A. Coghill with the Fort Wainwright-based Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade, 25th Infantry Division was presented a Purple Heart at Forward Operating Base Eagle. Oct. 17.

    On July 8, Coghill, a Washington, D.C. native, was part of a convoy responding to rescue a disabled Army Corps of Engineers vehicle during Operation Legion Recovery near FOB Sweeney. The convoy hit three improvised explosive devices at three different points along the route during the mission. Coghill was knocked unconscious and injured in the third explosion.

    Several other Purple Hearts, Combat Action Badges and Army Achievement Medals were awarded during the ceremony.
